Student Test bed Participants Install PR2 Radar at the CROEM School
From May to November, Gianni Pablos worked at the CSU-CHILL National Weather Radar Facility, calibrating the radar donated to the Student Test Bed by CASA Industrial partner, EWR Weather Radar Systems. In November, STB students installed this radar on the roof of the local CROEM School in Puerto Rico. Students also installed the controlling computer, designed and installed the solar photovoltaic system, and installed two disdrometers that will help validate and calibrate the radar data. The students visited the school in December to give presentations to all 20 teachers about the radar and CASA. UPRM faculty and students expect to continue this outreach to the school, which specializes in science, math and technology, to strengthen the relationship and to offer workshops to students about radars so they can learn how to operate the radar and use the data in their classes.
