CASA partner, DeTect, delivers Aircraft Birdstrike Avoidance Radar system

The system includes the MERLIN ATC automated birdstrike risk warning software that will alert air traffic controllers when birdstrike risk is detected by the system as well as continuous advisories to controllers, airfield managers and bird control staff of the current strike risk level and areas of increasing bird activity within 8 miles of the airfield.  Safety experts think birds were sucked into the engines of the US Airways jet that lost power and ditched into New York's Hudson River last month.
