Networked Waveform System
CASA researchers have developed a networked, multi-radar waveform system that overcomes the fundamental limitation of a single pulsed Doppler radar in resolving range and velocity ambiguities. The networked radar system is based on the principle that the intrinsic properties of the precipitation medium remain consistent among all radars, and thus ambiguity in range and velocity can be resolved by jointly processing data from all radars. The networked waveform system can measure very high velocities without the need for complex waveforms and advanced node processing, can be used with a simple, low-cost transmitter, and can be designed to meet a specific requirement over the coverage region without being restricted by limitation of an individual radar node.
