CASA's Industry Consortium fosters both the academic-industrial exchange of practice-oriented knowledge/technology and fundamental and enabling technology research.
Through our Practitioner Partners Program, we seek to establish strong research and education partnerships among faculty, students, and private and public practitioners to:
- Ensure that CASA's research, technology development, and systems implementation have commercial and social relevance.
- Create education and outreach programs that meet future workforce needs for engineers and scientists who have a multi-disciplinary, systems-oriented, real-world perspective.
- Facilitate technology transfer to the public and private sectors through knowledge transfer, use of CASA's component technologies and data, and future deployment of DCAS systems.
CASA's Practitioner Partners Program brings together a range of practitioners who develop and deploy weather observation systems and sensing technology; distributed computation, networking, and storage architectures; weather detection algorithms and forecast models; and use weather data to create decision making tools for private and public benefit. Currently, we have thirteen practitioner partners: IBM, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration - National Weather Service, Raytheon, Vaisala, Vieux and Associates, OneNet, Texas Medical Center, NEWS 9,
Micro-Ant, DeTect, Inc., EWR Weather Radar, NIED (National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention), and Hewlett Packard.
